Plant Descriptions

When you want to learn more about a plant, you can click on the "More Information" link on the Plant Page or Photo Page. A window will open with a description of the plant. This information will help you to identify the plant in the field.

In addition to a general description of the plant, there is more detailed information on:

  • Leaves
  • Flowers
  • Fruits
  • Stems
  • Habitat
  • Related Species
  • Range

The descriptions help to distinguish the plants from other related or similar-looking plants.

There is also information on the meanings of the botanical names. Knowing what the names mean is a good way to remember the botanical names.

Botanical terms that are used in the descriptions are underlined. This indicates that a click on a term will open the Glossary window and show the definition of that term.
