Plant Page

The central portion of this Field Guide on CD is the Plant Page.

Each of the 124 plants has its own plant page, with multiple photographs of the plant. Plant pages contain from 3 to 10 photographs. The average is 5. The photos show different aspects of the plant:

  • habitat - where it grows
  • habit - how it grows
  • leaves - shape, color and texture
  • flowers - color and distinctive form
  • fruits - after the flowers have gone
  • new plants - often harder to recognize
  • mature plants - typical appearance
  • aging plants - past their prime

The upper portion of the plant pages show:

  • common name
  • botanical name
  • family names - common and botanical
  • flower colors and flowering months
  • overal size and type of plant
  • native/introduced/invasive status
  • plant communities
  • warnings of toxicity

To see the details better, you can click on one of the photographs and get an enlarged version of that photograph on the Photo Page.

A click on the More Information link will show you a more detailed description of the plant.
